Sidney Tyler Lofton was born in 1979. A small Tennessee town was the backdrop to his formative years. Watching many sunrises and sunsets on lazy southern days formed in his mind the need to capture the world around him. Music also played a part in his early development. Everything from Motown to rock, blues, jazz, classical and country were constantly being played and an appreciation was developed early for the magic that is produced by musical performers. Always reading as a child he discovered a photo book on the Civil War that contained Mathew Brady’s photographs of the war. Those two things unleashed a passion for photography that he has carried his entire life.
In 2003 He decided to pursue photography full time and started documenting the many bands in and around Nashville TN. With a photo journalistic stripped down style he has shot many local bands and many national touring bands such as Saliva, The Devil Makes Three, Sevendust and Jucifer. As well as Damien Echols of West Memphis Three fame
He has covered The Occupy rallies In Nashville and has also been published in The Daily Herald of Columbia TN. He is also well known for his stunning HDR works of Middle Tennessee at night and his charity work with autistic musicians in and around Nashville. He founded Atticus Photography in 2005.
